Windows XP Service Pack 3 disponibile in Italiano
Proprio in questi momenti è stato reso disponibile per il download la versione 3 del Service Pack di Windows XP. Finalmente dopo una lunga e discussa attesa è possibile installarlo (anche da updater!).

Recensione del Nokia N78?
Ecco che Symbian France ci offre una recensione completa del nuovissimo Nokia N78.Ovviamente è tutto in francese.
N95 8Gb Open to Anything
Nokia ha lanciato in questi giorni un nuovo minisito dedicato al modello N95 8Gb, OpenToAnything (aperto ad ogni cosa), nel quale sei diversi personaggi descrivono le varie caratteristiche del telefono in questione.
La domanda è ovvia: ma se a breve (molto breve) ci sarà un nuovo terminale che sostituirà l'attuale di punta (cioè il modello N96 che diventerà il "front-phone" di casa Nokia) come mai viene lanciato un nuovo sito per il modello N95 8Gb? Che Nokia ci prepari per quale sorpresa?
Nokia N95 con schermi diversi
Sempre Pasco di Jaspp.net ci segnala una foto interessante: due Nokia N95 con due schermi diversi (uno di questi ha la cover frontale sostituita probabilmente con una non originale).
Da notare che Nokia, come ogni altra azienda, cambia fornitori, oppure sono i fornitori stessi a cambiare produzioni, quindi può anche essere che uno dei due N95 sia antecedente ad un cambiamento di display dovuto a quanto sopra detto.
Altro hacking per S60 3rd: Startup Sound!
Il caro Pasco di jaspp.net ci segnala una nuova procedura di hacking rivolta alla personalizzazione del suono di startup dei telefoni Symbian S60. Ecco come fare:
1. Scaricate sul vostro PC e decomprimete in una nuova cartella il file che trovate QUI.
2. Inserite il file 101F8763.txt in С:/private/10202be9/. Se la cartella 10202be9 non esiste, createla manualmente.
3. Inserite il file Startup.mp3 in E:\Sounds\Simple\Startup.mp3
Il file Startup.mp3 può essere modificato a piacimento, importante è che la lunghezza non superi gli 8/10 secondi
Se il procedimento non dovesse funzionare, potete procedere in questo modo:
1. Andate nella cartella Z:/private/10202be9/ e copiate il file 101F8763.txt
2. Inserite il file 101F8763.txt appena copiato in С:/private/10202be9/
3. Aprite e modificate il file 101F8763.txt in questo modo:

Carbide.ui e la creazione dei temi per Nokia
Come segnalato da Marco Mattioli di Onemobile.it esiste un software chiamato Carbide.ue che ci permette di creare da zero i temi per il Nostro telefono cellulare S60 e S40.
Il software è rivolto agli sviluppatori, ma anche gli utenti comuni (con ottime conoscenze di base) possono utilizzarlo (vi assicuro comunque che non è semplice).
I domini internet della N-Series
Si sa, il prossimo Nokia della N-Series che dovrà uscire è il modello N96. Come si piò immaginare il dominio www.n96.com è già preso. Eppure ci sono molti utenti internet davvero lungimiranti che hanno già registrato www.n97.com www.n98.com www.n99.com www.n100.com www.n101.com www.n102.com (e potrei continuare per molto)... come se si potesse immaginare che Nokia produrrà dei modelli N97, N98, N99, N100, N101... Bella fregatura se Nokia decidesse di cambiare "serie"...Codici per Nokia

Service Provider Lock Information :-
Service Provider Lock Service Provider lock is the lock to your phone which is implement by your service provider e.g. Orange onto your sim card. The phone is usually locked to a certain SP but it can be unlocked allowing you access to other service providers that provide a better deal. The same effect can also be used by using a Dual sim, you could have two sim cards in one phone allowing you to switch between sims and SP 1. First sim = Orange 2. Second sim = One2One

SMSC (Short Message Serivce Centre Numbers) SMS Centre number allow you to send free sms, by changing your message centre number like this:

What does this do?
Instead of paying for your messages, you can alter a number in your phone to send to a different centre. This cannot charge you, and consequently you have free SMS!
How does it work?
When you send a text message, it is first transmitted to your network's routing centre, called the Short Message Service Centre, or SMSC. This SMSC is generally a telephone number, normally a memorable one- i.e. Orange's is 0973 100973. Here, it is sent to the recipient's network's SMSC, where it is then forwarded to their phone. The whole process takes only seconds, but the vital part is when it reaches your SMSC, because then it is forwarded, and you are charged according to your tariff. If you, however, change your SMSC number to one below, the network who forward the message will not know who you are, and consequently cannot charge you. Clever huh?
Does it always work?
No! It can take hours to find a number that hasn't been blocked by your network- they usually carry out checks monthly and bar any numbers known to be forwarding SMS. Also, I understand that Orange and all networks in Denmark have barred all numbers aside from their own- so it won't work with Orange or Danish networks.

Museo dei cellulari Nokia
Vi consiglio di visitare Nokia Museum, sito tedesco che riporta oltre 300 modelli di telefoni cellulari Nokia, ovviamente dai più obsoleti ad oggi!
Nella foto vi riporto il Nokia Cityman 300, quello che è stato il mio primissimo telefono cellulare!
Divx Mobile Player aggiornato alla 0.90
nuova versione di Divx Mobile Player, il player per S60 3rd edition visualizza i video in formato .avi e Divx. Siamo arrivati alla 0.90. Per il download potete scaricare il programma dal sito ufficiale dopo essersi registrati (oppure direttamente dal telefono)
Changelog: Symbian-Guru informa di una serie di bug corretti, supporta il VOD (Video On Demand), cioè è possibile visualizzare sul cellulare i film acquistati o affittati dai VOD partner di Divx, anche se potremmo convertire in Divx un film in DVD e poi trasferirlo sul telefono.
Nokia N78 disponibile
Novità sull'uscita del nuovo N78, modella della Nseries che uscirà insieme al tanto atteso (e modello di punta) N96. SymbianFrance ci segnala che esiste una versione con cover bianca già disponibile sul sito di Nokia Spagna. Il prezzo riportato sulla pagina spagnola è di 419€, contro i 499€ di quanto riportato dal sito francese.
SymbianFrance ha testato il nuovo telefono, in particolare l’FM transmitter, cioè quella funziona che permette di ascoltare l'audio del cellulare attraverto un ricevitore FM (come ad esempio la radio di casa o l'autoradio). Potete vedere direttamente il video sul sito SymbianFrance.
Opinione personale: la trovata del trasmettitore FM non è certo un'invenzione recente. Basti pensare alla Belkin che proponeva un transmitter simile per poter ascoltare la musica dell'iPod direttamente nella propria autoradio. Il risultato era abbastanza deludente: la larghezza di banda FM è comunque ristretta per poter ottenere un suono "fedele" e inoltre il posizionamento dell'antenna dell'autoradio è fondamentale per poter sentire senza disturbi.
Curiosità sull’N78: la progettista si chiama Joeske Schellen (in foto), lavora al Nokia Design Studio di Londra e, dopo essersi occupata prevalentemente dei singoli elementi costitutivi degli Nseries, ora stata responsabile dell’intera progettazione dellN78. Nello sviluppo del telefono ha cercato di conciliare esigenze costruttive con il minor impatto ambientale possibile, concetto “zero sprechi” che Nokia sta portando avanti (fonte: NokiaConversations). Certificati (quasi) gratuiti per Symbian S60 3rd Edition
Si sa, il problema che affligge moltissimi utenti Symbian S60 3rd Edition è l'impossibilità di poter installare tutte le applicazioni che si vuole a causa della mancanza del certificato per il proprio telefono Nokia.
Da quando Symbian ha ristretto la possibilità di ottenere questi certificati soltanto agli sviluppatori, praticamente per i comuni mortali è diventato quasi impossibile installare nuove applicazioni non certificate (anche se freeware!).
Fino a poco tempo fà c'era solo un forum cinese che offriva l'opportunità di ottenere il file per la certificazione, ma la procedura era abbastanza complessa, soprattutto considerato il fatto che non in molti sanno il cinese... (ho provato personalmente, ci sono riuscito, ma è stata abbastanza dura).
Da oggi invece ecco che il buon Fabiano di Spaziocellulare da la possibilità (quasi) gratuita di poter fornire il certificato. Quasi perchè, per poter usufruire di servizi "plus", è necessaria una donazione di almeno 5 Euro. Tutto sommato una somma davvero esigua per poter ottenere un certificato che rende utilizzabile al 100% i programmi in circolazione (non certificati).
